Show Up and Play Workshop

Whether you’re a seasoned performer or new to the stage, this experience invites you to explore what’s possible when you show up fully and play unapologetically. We’ll explore the joyful theatricality of failure, absurdity, contradiction, success, and everything in between. Through movement, games, and improvisational performance techniques, you’ll:

    ⭐️ Free your body and creative voice for fuller self-expression

    ⭐️ Learn embodied practices to move through performance anxiety 

    ⭐️ Activate your imagination to expand your sense of possibility

    ⭐️ Create stories and characters in a flash

    ⭐️ Improvise with a full range of humor, honesty, and drama

What: A 6-week improvisation workshop for adults (ages 18+) all experience levels. 

When: Sundays, 2-4pm, September 13 – October 18 

Where: Celebration Barn Theater, 190 Stock Farm Road in South Paris, Maine.  

Fee: Sliding scale, $90 – $150. Two full-tuition no-questions-asked subsidies available for anyone for whom cost is a barrier. This is made possible with generous support from the Maine Arts Commission.

I’m Mandy and I’ve spent over two decades in professional theater—performing everywhere from Bogotá to Montreal, the New York Clown-Theatre Festival to the White House. In 2022, I was honored as the Maine Arts Commission’s Performing Arts Fellow for “artistic excellence and a joyful spirit for ferocious play.” For 15 years, I served as Executive Artistic Director of Celebration Barn Theater, Maine’s international hub for physical theater training. There, I hosted thousands of artists from around the globe and facilitated immersive workshops to deepen creative exploration, support risk-taking, and amplify each artist’s unique voice.  I currently facilitate theater creation in prisons with Maine Inside Out.
